Ready for more-ning?

A gentle greeting for you today. Good morning.

Growing up, I always loved the cool and refreshing, quietly invigorating morning hours. Memories of my dreams slowly faded as I geared up for the day.

After years of coping with—or (barely) managing—chronic insomnia and other effects of depression and anxiety, mornings began (begin) too soon. Raise your hand if you have been or are there. If you’ve always been a “night owl,” you can relate.

For some time, morning time became “mourning time,” a time for lamenting the lack of sufficient sleep, and another night lost. They say “the only way through it is through it.” Into mourn, morn, and more in I go.

Today I offer you this contemplation, “good more-ning.”

New day, new opportunities. More chances to navigate the challenges with a little more ease, a little more grace.

We are here; here we are. Ready for more?

Find a mirror and say it to yourself, out loud, cheerfully, softly, “good morning.”

good more-ning
